Is the TurboSwing suitable for all brands of outboard motor? Yes, the TurboSwing is suitable for all outboard motors from 40HP. For certain brands from 30HP or even from 25HP. The holders fit on the motor bracket. The determining factor is the centre-to-centre distance of 325mm of the bolts.
For smaller motors, where the centre-to-centre distance is only 250mm or less, we recommend transom fitting.
What is the maximum power that can be handled by the TurboSwing? The TurboSwing can be used with motors up to 350HP.
How do I select the correct TurboSwing? There is a TurboSwing available for every outboard motor. Please consult the table. There a choice can be made based on the brand and power of the motor.
What material is the TurboSwing made of? All parts are made of Marine316™ stainless steel, with the exception of the plastic pulleys in the EZpulley™ and the friction discs for the holders.
Yes, of course. Numerous corrosive substances, such as chlorides and iron oxide, are found on the water. It is advisable to clean off any deposits using a plastic brush (do not use a metal scouring pad!!), soap and water. For stubborn dirt and lime scale, use a waterline or hull cleaner. After cleaning or using the TurboSwing, rinse it off thoroughly with clean water.
Has the TurboSwing's stainless steel construction an influence on my aluminium motor or boat?
The motor also contains stainless steel parts and is therefore equipped with anodes for cathodic protection. Ensure that the anodes are always in good condition to avoid galvanic corrosion. The installation of the TurboSwing can lead to the sacrificial anodes shrinking more quickly, therefore, check them regularly. There is a hole at the base of the holders to which an additional anode can be attached if required. The anodes should be checked more regularly, or consideration should be given to installing more anodes, if the boat will be in salt water for a long time.
What is the maximum that the TurboSwing can tow? This is indicated by the maximum towing capacity, which you can find in the documentation. Exceeding the maximum towing capacity can result in damage to the TurboSwing in the form of, for instance, the bar or pulley bending. In practice, this means that the weight in kilos of the skiers/ wake boarders or banana boat/ fun tubers must not exceed the towing capacity specified for the TurboSwing. The force they exert shall, it's true, be far below the indicated value, but high peak forces can occur when starting, carving, making curves, negotiating waves, etc.
To install the TurboSwing, must I make holes in my boat, reinforce the hull, etc.? No. The transom is the strongest structure of the boat; This is where not only the motor but also the TurboSwing will be mounted. The TurboSwing holders fit exactly on the motor bracket and will be, together with the motor, mounted on the transom using the same bolts. The holders are universal, therefore the holes in the holders match the holes in the motor bracket. All motors from 40HP, with the exception of those from Honda from 175HP and Evenrude from 75HP, have exactly the same brackets. For Honda and Evenrude motors from 175 respectively 75HP, special holders are available at no additional cost.
The main bolts at the top of the motor bracket that are already present will be used. For reasons of stabilisation, on both sides a 2nd hole will be drilled and a 2nd stabilisation bolt installed in one of the 4 or 5 predrilled bolt holes. Always leave a minimum of 1, but preferably 2 holes between the main bolt and the stabilisation bolt.
Otherwise, no drilling or sawing is required at places that are unsuitable and that could weaken the structure of the boat. Reinforcement with epoxy and/or other structural reinforcement is unnecessary.
When is "transom mounting” used Small motors of 30HP or less and sometimes older 2-stroke motors of 40HP are attached using clamps with butterfly bolts. Sometimes there is a provision with just 1 bracket bolt on each side, with a centre-to-centre distance of 250mm or less. In this case we recommend transom mounting.
Yes, TurboSwing BV gives a full 12-month guarantee on all parts, as long as you abide by the installation and user manual.
Can multiple skiers/ boards be towed by the TurboSwing? Yes, this is possible with a separate pulley for each person so that they can ski and/ or board independently.
Yes, for all brands up to 350HP, they are called TurboSwing-Twins |
